Cawdor Ponds
Small Pond Cawdor These two ponds are located in the former quarry at Cawdor and are at the far end near the Permanite factory.The largest pond has 19 pegs and the smaller pond 11. They both have a depth of around 3-4 feet with the deeper water towards the cliff face on the larger pond.Tactics for these ponds are Pole,float and Carp methods with most baits successful .The fish in these ponds are:-Common and Mirror Carp to 12lbs Crucian Carp to 2lbs Tench to 3lbs Bream to 4lbs Roach to 2lbs Rudd to 2lbs and Perch to 1lb.
Large Pond Cawdor
Tansley Pond
This is a former mill pond in the Tansley area at the bottom of Brookfield Industrial estate .It has a central island and three man made islands.The depth of the pond varies from 1 foot to 3and a half feet and has a variety of coarse fish.There are 25 pegs on this pond providing good platforms to fish from.Tactics on this pond are float,leger or pole to the far banks or islands,or in the margins,with most baits catching fish. The pond contains:- Common and Mirror Carp to 8lbs Crucian Carp to 2lbs Tench to 3lbs Roach to 2lbs Rudd to 2lbs Perch to 2lbs Bream to 3lbs Chub to 3lbs and Gudgeon to 3oz
River Derwent
River Derwent at Matlock Bath The club has various stretches of the River Derwent these are at Darley Dale,Oaker,Snitterton,Matlock and Matlock Bath.They have good fishing all year round using all tactics including fly fishing.The stretch at Matlock Bath has day tickets available all other stretches are members only.The river has many differing parts,shallow and fast and slow and deep and various fish holding spots along its length.The stretch at Matlock Bath was restocked with 3500 coarse fish from the Environment Agency in November 2007 these were Roach,Barbel and Dace from 3-6 inches.Some of the banks to the pegs are steep and caution should be taken when fishing these spots especially when the river is carrying extra water. The river contains :- Grayling to 2lbs Barbel to 6lbs Chub to 4lbs Roach to 2lbs Perch to 2lbs Dace to 4oz Gudgeon to 2oz Brown Trout to 3lbs and although these are not stocked fish and have either been stocked elsewhere in the river or escaped ,Rainbow Trout including wild fish to 3lbs ,and at Matlock Bath near the aquarium a few Carp to 5lbs
