With the weather at last relenting and turning into early spring the match was fished in some parts in bright sunshine with the river level normal. The grayling seemed to be shoaled up in certain areas ready for spawning and Mark Gregory found the on Peg 59 for his winning weight of 8lbs 10ozs. In second was Rick Cantrill with a grayling net of 6lbs 11ozs from Peg 70, in joint third was J Spencer Peg 88 and B Ball Peg 65 both with 5lbs 14ozs The full result was 1st M Gregory 8lbs 10ozs Peg 59 2nd R Cantrill 6lbs 11ozs Peg 70 3rd= J Spencer 5lbs 14ozs Peg 88 3rd= B Ball 5lbs 14ozs Peg 65 5th M Harrison 4lbs 0oz Peg 48

.Sunday 21st February 2010 River Derwent Matlock The heavy snowfall on the morning of this match didnt stop the sixteen anglers from fishing the Derwent in Matlock.The match was pegged from artist corner to the park and again Peg 71a produced the winning weight for Mark Gregory with 8lbs 2ozs. Sunday 14th February 2010 Cawdor Ponds This match was fished by fifteen anglers who found the going very hard with no-one catching a fish until 2 hours or more into the match. The result shows how hard the fishing was with the winner Malc Bent catching a dozen small roach for a weight of 1lb 2ozs from Peg 23 on the small pond. Second was Craig Cantrill who caught small perch in margins late in the match for 13ozs and third was D Fowler with 3ozs ! Sunday7th February 2010 River Derwent Twenty anglers took part in the latest club match and found the river in fine form with weights close behind the runaway winner John Barfoot ,who had eleven fish, nine grayling and two chub for his winning weight of 9lbs 13ozs from peg 71a in the park. Second and breaking his winning run, was match secretary A Cooper with 6lbs 15ozs from peg 77 above the bridge. Third place went to M Harrison who finished with 6lbs 14ozs on peg 60 .The match also threw up the club best for a grayling with a 1lb 10oz fish for J Mills/ 1st J Barfoot 9lbs 13ozs Peg 71a 2ns A Cooper 6lbs 15ozs Peg 77 3rd M Harrison 6lbs 14ozs Peg 60 4th G Hartwell 6lbs 12ozs Peg 57 5th R Ball 6lbs 12ozs Peg 44. The next club match is on Cawdor ponds (subject to weather) on the 14th February.

The latest club match was switched to the pond at Tansley due to the river derwent being unfit to fish. Twelve anglers took part and found the fishing patchy around the pond. The match was won by Asa Cooper who had an all silver fish net for 9lbs 6 ozs from peg 20 second by three ounces was D Fowler who had two carp and a perch for 9lbs 3 ozs from peg 13 and third was K Wood with a silver fish net of 4lbs 9ozs from peg 24.

Sunday10th January 2010 River Derwent Matlock The latest match was changed from Cawdor ponds due to it being iced over and with the continued cold spell a reduced attendance of ten anglers fished the river.The result howed the river in fine form despite the freezing conditions with weights being made up of grayling with the odd small chub also being caught.The winner was A Cooper who had grayling and a couple of small chub for his winning weight of 9lbs 12ozs from Peg 71a closely followed in second by R Bonson with 9lbs 8ozs from Peg 100 for second.In third place was G Taylor with 8lbs 2ozs from Peg 82. 1st A Cooper 9lbs 12ozs Peg 71a 2nd R Bonson 9lbs 8ozs Peg 100 3rd G Taylor 8lbs 2ozs Peg 82 4th R Ball 4lbs 5ozs Peg 75 5th D Fowler 3lbs 5ozs Peg 65

Sunday 3rd January2010 River Derwent Matlock to Matlock Bath The first match of 2010 saw eighteen hardy(or mad) anglers brave the snow covered and freezing banks of the River Derwent . Despite the freezing conditions the end result was close with just 12 ounces seperating the top five. Nigel Ellis started the years match calender as he finished last years winning the match with 5lbs 10ozs from Peg 90.
