NEWS 02/06/13. With the sun finally starting to show, both Tansley and Cawdor are fishing really well, with some big weights of silver fish and carp coming out of Cawdor and also good silver fish nets from Tansley. With the opening day for the river fast approaching, now is the time to be walking the banks and looking for those best swims, hope you all have a good summer's fishing and don't forget to let us know of any big fish you catch.
10/04/13 WORKING PARTY. We are having a working party at Cawdor on the 27th April, Saturday afternoon, this will be a general clean up, litter pick and pruning back of trees. Any one who can spare a few hours would be made welcome. Please remember it`s your club and this work is for every ones benefit. Directors Meeting. The latest meeting took place on the 5th April. There was a discussion with regards to day tickets at Matlock Bath, the paper shop that sold the tickets for the club has closed and another could not be found. After arguing all the pros and cons, it was voted to finish the day tickets and make all club waters available to members only. The strimmer and pruning saw has been purchased and already been put to use. The new signs have started to be put up by Nigel Ellis and are looking really good. It was reported that canoes are using our land at Darley Bridge as a launching area, to try and stop this it was voted to erect fencing and put up new signs to try and put a stop to it. The club is a member of the Angling Trust, this provides various benefits including a public liability insurance.
24/03/13 Spring is here, 6" of snow and freezing conditions, it can only get better. Just a couple of things, Firstly a reminder that we are now into the closed season for the river and you can only fish with , FLY, LEGGERED WORM OR SPINNING ROD, PLEASE COMPLY WITH THESE RULES AS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE BY OUR BAILLIFFS IF YOU ARE CAUGHT USING ANY OTHER METHOD. Secondly, we are organising a working party to have a general clean up around the ponds, litter pick, tree pruning, etc, all help would be appreciated will post date as soon as it is confirmed 23/02/13 It is with great sadness, that the club has lost one of its most liked members. Gordon Hartwell passed away after a short illness. Gordon was a regular competitor on most club matches for many years and loved his trips over to Ireland. The highlight of Gordans fishing was winning the senior national outright. You will be sadly missed Gordon by all who knew you.
SIGNS. New signs have been ordered for all club waters and will be put up in the near future. ERAWASH CANAL. A lot of work has been done on the canal by M Wain and he reports that the fishing is improving, with a bream of 5lbs been caught and roach upto a 1lb on bread punch. Why not try something different and give it a try. TANSLEY. Tansley is fishing quiet well through this cold snap, with good weights of roach and perch being caught, RESTOCKING. This years restocking took place on the 10/02/13, two thousand five hundred roach, four to six inches in size were put in the river at Matlock Bath and one hundred chub, four to eight inches. Also one hundred chub of the same size were put in the Cawdor stretch. 02/02/13 Directors Meeting. Update to all members after the latest meeting of the directors. After a long and frustrating time, the final paper work has been signed and transfer documents completed and along with a cheque, all have been forwarded to DDDC to complete the purchase, of all fishing rights on our stretch of the river Derwent. We can also confirm that, 200 Chub and 2,500 Roach have been ordered for this years restocking, at a cost of £1,800. These fish will be stocked into the river in March by Mainstream Fisheries. It was also passed to purchase, one strimmer and one extendable pruning saw, for the maintance of club waters,this will be around £1000 and will be for the use of all members on working parties(to be arranged soon all volunters welcome) New signs are to be made and errected on the Matlock Bath stretch to clearly state, this is club owned waters and that Day tickets must be purchased to fish this length of river. Membership applications are going well, with a good uptake,if you have not renewed now is the time, we would like you all back. On a sad note, we have been informed that, Mr P. Cutts a life member has passed away, the thoughts of the club go out to his family and friends. Happy new year to all new and old members, we hope you all have a good years fishing. Membership CLUB YEAR BOOKS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR £40 FROM, ALFRETON ANGLING, LEEGEM ANGLING, MATLOCK ANGLING AND MEMBERSHIP SEC, DAVE GREATOREX, TEL 07776132940 River. The river is fishing really well at the moment along the whole length, Grayling are showing and a few Chub are being caught. Matlock Bath has produced some really good weights over the last two weeks, with a net of 15lbs and several 11lb weights being recorded, with Grayling upto 1lb11oz being caught. DAY TICKETS. The clubs only day ticket water is Matlock Bath. This stretch is fishing really well at the moment and is becoming a well used venue. Can we remind all non members,YOU MUST PURCHASE A DAY TICKET BEFORE YOU START FISHING, these are available from the newsagents, next to the Fishpond Hotel, which is opposite the pavilion car park. NO DAY TICKETS ARE SOLD ON THE BANK. We now have a full time bailliff on this stretch and you will be asked to leave if you can not produce your ticket or club year book. Just a reinder to all members,YOU MUST CARRY YOUR YEAR BOOK WITH YOU WHILST FISHING AND PRODUCE IT ON REQUEST OF BAILLIFFS, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY.
TANSLEY POND. Tansley is fishing steady at the moment, with a few good nets of 4lb to 8lb being caught. We will be having a working party in the near future to have a trim and clean up of the venue, all helpers are welcome, date to be arranged.
CAWDOR. At last the flooding has resided and all pegs are now fishable. We will also be organizing a working party here for a genaral tidy up, all members who could help would be welcomed, date to be arranged. Thank you all for your patience over the last few weeks, lets hope we have a dry period CAWDOR FLOODING 26/12/12 Due to extreme weather, Cawdor pond has flooded again, the club is working hard to try and resolve this ongoing problem and ask all members to be patient whilst a long term solution can be found. (the main cause of the problem is an increase of water entering the pond). It has been brought to the directors attention that some members are not happy with the situation, if you do have a complaint, please contact Gary Slack (club secretary) and you will be invited to put your views to the directors at the next committee meeting
Subscriptions are due in January,the club year books are currently at the printers and should be ready by the end of December.
FUR AND FEATHER This years fur and feather was held on the 9th december, with a good turn out of 40 anglers all keen to take one of the 20 hampers up for grabs. Congratulations to P Simson who ended up overal winner.
